On friday, March 13, 2015, our Spring Auction has come to an end with our catalogue #262 “Coins of the Ancient World”. Many of the 6,500 pieces led to heavy bidding in the auction room and on the telephone that resulted in an impressive total sale price of 2,6 Mio. Euros - 55% above the estimated price. Over the entire week we accomplished a total sale price of 9,6 Mio. Euros, so the total sale price surmounted the estimation by roughly 50%.
To open this years Spring Auction we already conducted our eleventh sale of Orders and Decorations. The total sale price added up to 770.000 Euros and was therefore proximately 60% above the estimate.
As you know, we always achieve extraordinary good results when we have the pleasure to sell a whole special numismatic collection all together in one catalog. This time we even have been able to auction off two special collections. Firstly the collection Schleswig-Holstein and Denmark of Kurt Zentin which achieved the impressive result of over 600,000 Euros, hence nearly 66% above the estimated price. Also the second collection from our catalogue 261 by Konrad Bretschneider about Coins from the Duchy Saxony-Altenburg was successfully auctioned with the remarkable hammer price of nearly 60% above the estimate. In numbers this means: Total estimation over 100,000 euros with a hammer price of over 160.000 euros.
