Results Spring Auction Sales 2018
19. - 23. March 2018 | Steigenberger Hotel Remarque, Osnabrück
Dear Bidders and Coin Enthusiasts,
after 5 exciting days here in Osnabrueck, our auctions 304-306 came successfully to an end.
First of all, we want to thank you, our customers, for making this sale another big success! In this newsletter we quickly want to highlight a few special results form this 5 day auction.
As always here at Künker, entire collections attract a large group of bidders that result in remarkable hammer prices. This was no different in this years Spring Auction Sale. To name a few, the special collections of Münster and the Dr. Loos collection of coins from the city of Mainz did exceptionally well. Both collections nearly doubled from their original estimate.
Another collection that we certainly want to mention here was the collection of gold coins from the northern German regions of Lübeck and Mecklenburg (Lots 6138 to 6221). The combination of extreme rarity and remarkable preservation and condition of the pieces in this collection led to a series of incredible results. In a packed auction room full of enthusiastic gold collectors that did not want to miss this opportunity to add key rarities to their collection, the final sale price for this group exceeded a total of 410,000 Euros (estimate 170,000 Euros).
A likewise enthusiastic auction audience could also be observed at the beginning of the auction week during our sale of ancient coins. Especially the historically and stylistically interesting Greek pieces have always been, and are becoming even more and more popular with collectors, which also reflected in the very strong hammer prices that we were able to archive. The total hammer price of catalogue 304 exceeded the remarkable amount of € 2.8 million Euros.
Beside the highlights from the Greek series, our catalogue 304 proved that Roman coins are still very popular as well. Especially the rare Aurei achieved some amazing results. The exciting portraits of the Roman emperors are once again enjoying great popularity and are always well suited to assemble a collection of historical coins.
We are glad that we were able to welcome more than 400 bidders personally on the floor. In total more than 3,000 bidders attended the auction.
The 6,700 lot numbers realized an amazing total hammer price of 11 million euros.
All results can be checked in detail on our website www.kuenker.com.
