(?)//IOYΔΑΙΑΣ ΕΑ-ΛWΚΥΙΑΣ around a winged Victory standing to r. l. foot on helmet, writing AYT T KAIC on a shield hanging down from a palm tree; in the field, rectangular countermark: galley. Hendin no. 1446; Meshorer, Treasury 265 no. 381b; RPC II no. 2311; Countermarks: Howgego 135 (?) and 409.


Rare countermarks. Fine, the countermark on the reverse good very fine

A worn coin which was kept in circulation by two countermarks, the one on the reverse depicting a galley, the emblem of the Legio X Fretensis.
