Aphrodite ist die namensgebende Göttin der Stadt. Ihr monumentaler Tempel war das dominierende Gebäude der Stadt und die Göttin ist in Inschriften der Stadt über hundertmal genannt und zwar vorwiegend in ihrer "politischen" Funktion als Schutzgöttin. Es ist also nicht verwunderlich, dass das Bild der Göttin den Avers des Stückes schmückt.

Aphrodite is the eponymous goddess of the city. Her monumental temple was the city’s most prominent building, and the goddess is mentioned over a hundred times in the city’s inscriptions, primarily referring to her “political” function as patron goddess. Therefore, it is not surprising that the image of the goddess adorns the obverse of the coin.
