Unser Sammler schreibt zu dem Stück: "Ernest John Seltman (starb ca. 1944) aus Great Berkhamsted (nördlich von London) war Vater des Althistorikers und Numismatikers Charles Theodore Seltman (1886-1957) und bereits in den 1890er Jahren ein bekannter Händler für griechische und römische Münzen in London, worauf Leonard Forrer Sr. in seinem Aufsatz "Numismatic reminiscences of the last sixty years [1888-1948], hinwies, der im British Numismatic Journal 73 (2003), S. 181-196, erneut veröffentlich wurde. Ernest John Seltman war seit dem 10. Februar 1890 auch Mitglied der Numismatic Society of London. Nachdem diese Gesellschaft am 22. Februar 1904 in der Royal Numismatic Society aufging, wurde Seltman Mitglied der königlichen Gesellschaft und bleib dies bis zu seinem Tod."

"Ernest John Seltman (died circa 1944), of Great Berkhamsted, the father of the Ancient Greek historian and numismatist Charles Theodore Seltman (1886-1957), was a prominent dealer of Greek and Roman coins in the London coin business already in the 1890s, as Leonard Forrer Sr. of Spink recalls in his ‘Numismatic reminiscences of the last sixty years [1888-1948]’, published in the British Numismatic Journal, vol. 73/2003 (Centenary Volume), pp. 191-196.
He was also a member of the Numismatic Society of London since 10 February 1890. Upon its incorporation by Royal Charter as the Royal Numismatic Society on 22 February 1904, he became, like all the existing members of the Numismatic Society of London, Fellow of the Royal Numismatic Society, a status maintained until his death."
