GOLD. Unikum. Gelocht, sehr schön; Gegenstempel: sehr schön Kennet MacKenzie erklärte diesen Gegenstempel im Rahmen der Münzpolitik Ahmads III. überzeugend: Later in 1725 A.D. he [Ahmad III] issued a firman (rebiul evvel 1138 H.) following his brothers' example which ordered all the "old" (ancient) and foreign gold coins in circulation to be brought to the mint for exchange in current coin or for validation in akche equivalent based on his published tariff which included such valuations as: 375 akches for the Venetian ducat, 360 for the Austro-Hungarian altin (magir) and 330 akches for the ashrafi (cedid) - or 315 if minted in Egypt. He ordered too, that in the territories taken from Persia, that the gold coins were to be struck with his tughra and called sultani.
It is conceivable that this histamenon described here above which was about the size and weight of the ashrafi (atik, old) although not mentioned in the tariff, might have been valued at about 300 akches upon being countermarked at the mint.
