Die Aversdarstellung steht für den Namen der Stadt. Griechisch Αστακος bedeutet Hummer. 264 v. Chr. siedelte Nikomedes I. die Einwohner von Astakos in das von ihm gegründete Nikomedia um.
The obverse depiction represents the name of the city. The Greek word Αστακος means “lobster”. In 264 BC, Nicomedes I relocated the inhabitants of Astakos to Nicomedia, which he had founded.
