Der Kult der Artemis Leukophryene war der Hauptkult Magnesias. Am Ende des 3. Jahrhunderts v. Chr. wurde der Tempel der Göttin im ionischen Stil von Hermogenes von Alabanda neu errichtet. Teile des 200 m langen Frieses mit Amazonenkämpfen gelangten in den Louvre, nach Berlin und nach Istanbul.

The cult of Artemis Leucophryene was the most important cult in Magnesia. In the late 3rd century BC, the goddess’s temple was rebuilt in the Ionic style by Hermogenes of Alabanda. Parts of the 200-meter-long frieze depicting battles with Amazons can now be found in the Louvre, Berlin and Istanbul.
