Description
GOLD. Von größter Seltenheit. Probierspur am Rand, vorzüglich Vgl. den Kommentar bei Hawkins, S. 533: "This medal was struck by order of the magistrates of Leyden, and a specimen in gold was presented to each of the Overseers, who were appointed to supply lists of the hearths of that city for the purpose of levying the hearth tax. This tax, being ridigly enforced, resulted in a large revenue to the city, and the money thus obtained was devoted to the repairing and refitting of the Dutch fleet."
