Diese letzte bedeutende Goldprägung Karthagos entstand wohl zur Finanzierung des Ersten Punischen Krieges. Solche Stücke dürften zur von dem Konsul Gaius Duilius in der Seeschlacht bei Mylae gemachten Beute gehört haben.
