Henk Verschoor

Portrait of a Coin Collector

The numismatist Hendrik (Henk) Verschoor was born on 16 August 1952.

Together with his twin brother Dingeman (Dim), who passed away on 5 March 2020, he founded the coin trading company Verschoor on 1 July 1984, which the brothers ran in their hometown of Strijen near Dordrecht in the southern Netherlands. At the end of 2022, Henk closed the company which they had managed successfully for almost four decades. While Verschoor Coin Dealers specialised in Dutch medals and researching their historical background and provenance, Henk Verschoor built up a special collection of coins from the Dutch colonies in Southeast Asia and South America with great dedication.

In our Auction 373 on 27 September 2022, we had the privilege of auctioning coins from the Kingdom of Holland (1806-1810) and Dutch medals from the Verschoor brothers’ collection.

We wish to thank our friend Henk for entrusting us with the sale of his collection of coins from the Dutch colonies. We’re delighted to be able to o£er another important collection in this interesting and attractive ¤eld of numismatics, following the Beuth collection.
