A remarkable family history is revealed: In our Auction 203 on February 2, 2012 in Berlin, we were able to present all(!) five variants of the family rouble of Tsar Nicholas I. An absolute novelty.
This is the so-called family rouble of the Russian Tsar Nicholas I (1825-1855). Five variants of the silver coin are known. Under Nicholas, the coin was worth one and a half roubles for Russia and 10 zlotych for Poland. However, it was never in circulation and is therefore to be regarded as a commemorative coin. There is something international about the commemorative coin: The idea came from Bavaria, the model being the Bavarian convention thaler of 1828, and Tsarina Aleksandra Fedorovna, Friederike Luise Charlotte Wilhelmine, was a native Prussian. The Bavarian original and the Russian imitation are very similar, only the number of children varies: Ludwig I had eight, Nicholas seven.
We have summarized both the history of the origins of the family ruble and the Russian-German family history for you in a brochure.
